Veikkaus Investigates 800 Suspicious Logins, No Irregularities Found

The Finnish national lottery firm Veikkaus is examining roughly eight hundred dubious sign-ins to its online platforms last month.

Veikkaus asserts that its information systems were not impacted by these login occurrences and no “irregularities” were detected in any accounts. The login events are allegedly caused by software assailants using software tools to guess customer usernames and passwords, successfully accessing Veikkaus services. As a consequence, the attackers may have gained access to eight hundred customer gaming accounts and locked out numerous accounts through incorrect login attempts. Nevertheless, Veikkaus reports that no suspicious gambling activity was discovered in the compromised accounts. Local law enforcement has been involved and customers whose information may have been compromised have been notified and asked to alter their passwords. Furthermore, Veikkaus emphasizes that cybercriminals were unable to transfer funds from accounts due to authentication measures in place. Hanna Kilkki, Veikkaus’ Director of Legal and Corporate Responsibility, stated: “Due to the nature of the attack, we believe the risk of misuse of relevant gaming accounts and personal data is minimal.”

We havent observed any unusual activity in the accounts that were targeted. Naturally, we’ll keep a close watch on things.”

Last week, Veikkaus, the Finnish national lottery organization, began discussions with 830 employees regarding potential job cuts, with 200 positions in jeopardy.
