Delaware Sports Betting Revenue Surges 440% in March

Delawares sports wagering activity skyrocketed by a staggering 440% in March.

Consumer expenditures on Delaware sports betting surged 440% year-on-year in March, reaching $18.9 million (£15.2 million/€17.7 million). This increase was fueled by the state’s burgeoning online betting market.

The handle significantly outstripped Delawares $3.5 million in March of the previous year. It also exhibited a 37% growth compared to February’s $13.8 million.

In terms of revenue, March witnessed $1 million in revenue. This represented an 89.2% increase from last year’s $544,385 and an 83.8% increase from February’s $560,449.

The substantial year-over-year rise was attributed to the Delaware Lottery’s launch of its inaugural online sports betting platform. This sports betting platform, powered by Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers, went fully operational in January.

In terms of performance, Delaware Park achieved the highest revenue in March, generating $681,548 on $13.1 million in wagers. Harrington Raceway secured the second position with $176,583 in revenue on $3.3 million in wagers, followed by Baltimore Dover with $113,692 in revenue on $1.5 million in wagers.

March also saw $58,273 in sports betting revenue from $990,664 in bets placed at Delawares retail locations.

Online casino revenue surpassed $4.6 million in March
Shifting to the online casino market, total spending in March reached $136 million. This represented a 227.7% increase from $41.5 million in March 2023 and a 16% increase from the $117.2 million total spent in February.

Of the total amount wagered by players in March, approximately $85.

Digital video lottery wagering generated $3 million in revenue, while digital desktop gaming produced $50.7 million.

The overall online gambling market earnings reached $46 million, a substantial 228.6% jump from March 2023 and an 18% increase from February’s $39 million. This figure once again significantly exceeded last year’s results.

Digital video contributed $33 million to the monthly revenue, while desktop games contributed $13 million.

Delaware Park topped the list of operators, generating $2 million in revenue from online video and desktop games, with a total expenditure of $71.1 million.

Harrington Raceway came in second with $1.6 million in online gambling revenue and a total bet of $38.9 million. Baltimore Dover secured third place in the market with $951,096 in revenue and a total wager of $26.1 million.

Similar to the sports betting market, online gambling is also experiencing growth due to the recent introduction of new products. The state’s three operators launched new online gambling platforms in January.
